Rachael Strittmatter grew up in the outskirts of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which is also where she first experienced working with glass. While she had initially been involved with the ceramics program, Rachael took a glass class and quickly realized she was in the wrong studio. The teamwork, intensity, and challenges/rewards of the glass studio were the key attractions to this medium. Rachael completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Glass from Rochester Institute of Technology in New York in 2020. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions and she has held international residencies in Japan and the Czech Republic. Rachael originally came to PGC for the Technical Apprentice program in 2021 and quickly found a home in the glass community and city of Pittsburgh. In addition to her role as Groups and Events Coordinator, you can find her building her brand of glassware, instructing a class, or on the mic narrating a Hot Jam. In her line of glassware, she is drawn towards bright colors, classic forms, and sparkles.
