Nick Mount is the featured artist for Art on Fire this year. You won’t want to miss it!

Art on Fire is a fun party and Pittsburgh’s only glass auction. It is Pittsburgh Glass Center’s most important fundraiser that generates over 10% of the annual operating funds in ONE evening!

Proceeds directly support free public programming and accessibility initiatives at PGC, which include free monthly open houses and demonstrations, three exhibitions a year in our public-access gallery, and scholarships for everyone.

Pittsburgh’s Only Glass Art Auction

Art on Fire is a great opportunity to buy handmade, one-of-a-kind glass art while also supporting artists and Pittsburgh Glass Center. Over 120 handmade glass works by local and internationally renowned glass artists will be included in the live and silent auctions. All auction items can be viewed online and in the Hodge Gallery at Pittsburgh Glass Center starting in August.

About our featured artist NICK MOUNT

Nick Mount was among the first generation of artists to be introduced to glass in Australia in the early 70s. He and his partner, Pauline, went on to establish Victoria’s first private hot glass studio. In a career spanning almost 50 years, Nick has made a significant contribution to the development of studio glass as an artistic medium in Australia and is celebrated as an expert of his craft.

We are honoring Nick Mount this year not only because of his expertise but also because of the traditions of the studio glass movement and our mission. Nick is a staunch advocate for communal training and production. He has a reputation for being a generous mentor, regularly collaborates with highly skilled glass blowers, and has been a teacher and friend of PGC for over 20 years. In fact, Nick first came to teach at PGC in the summer of 2005!
