Today Pittsburgh Glass Center (PGC) launched a fundraising campaign to raise $15,000 to complete the renovations to a second 6,500-square-foot building located at 5431 Penn Avenue, at the corner of North Graham Street and Penn Avenue, two blocks away from the existing PGC facility in Garfield. Renamed Pittsburgh Glass Corner, this building was the former Horoscope Lounge, a nuisance bar for many years and most recently a vacant store front.
Pittsburgh Glass Center invites everyone to help transform this building that has been a concern of the community for years. Visit www.fundrazr.com/pghglasscorner to donate and help clean up the corner!
Opening in June, Pittsburgh Glass Corner will be transformed into a gallery and residence for rising leaders in the glass art community and a place for:
Everyone to explore and experience glass art in a brand-new exhibition space
Youth artists like Caitlin Dolhi to have a dedicated space for student art receptions
Visiting artists like Lauren Kalman to relax after a long day creating in the studio
The community to gather and share ideas.
“The completion of this new facility will mark the culmination of our expansion, and it will strengthen our capacity to advance a more diverse, vibrant, and accessible glass art community,” said Heather McElwee, Randi & L. Van V. Dauler, Jr. Executive Director at Pittsburgh Glass Center.
Penn Avenue’s most recent strategic plan called out the need for more opportunities for diverse, community social engagements. With community support, Pittsburgh Glass Corner will be a space that will do just that.
Every gift, no matter how small, will help us reach our goal.
